2026 – Welcoming New Innkeepers

I am excited to share that after greeting guests for over 28 years, there will be new innkeepers at the Lionel Champlin Guest House for the 2026 Season (April through October.) Kim and Simo will come from their home in Bogliasco, Italy and embark on roles as island innkeepers. What is not new for them is their gracious, welcoming, warm presence. Visitors here will be in good hands and will continue to enjoy homemade baked goods and fresh fruit in the morning with coffee and tea, along with a kitchen stocked with Backroads granola, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, and juice.

While a 3-night minimum stay is required at most times, for the time period May 22-October 13, any reservation that includes only a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night will be allowed with only a 2-night minimum.

There are a few changes that I hope returning guests will understand have been made for smoother operations. Check-in and check-out times have been adjusted by 30 minutes each to allow time for rooms to be turned over fully between guests and to allow time to complete necessary errands.

The state of Rhode Island increased the hotel/lodging tax another 1% this year so now both lodging and sales tax are 7% each.

In case you didn’t know, there is an EV charging station here now and it is a flat $25 fee to use this to charge your electric vehicle fully while you’re out enjoying your day, or overnight when you’re sleeping. Please let us know that you will want to use the charger as the small driveway near the station is normally used by the apartment tenant and it’s helpful to give him notice to park in the main driveway at that time.
